Care for un-glazed terra cotta ornaments, mine have started to go white . What can I do to dry them out? I live in Taipei, the weather is very humid here. I can't find anything on website that doesn't relate to garden pots which should be put inside during winter to stop frost damage. That won't be a problem here!
Weather report confusion? Just now, I checked the weather in Taipei for my trip tomorrow, and here's what I found: Weather.com FriSatSunMon 25/2125/2126/2125/19 Yahoo! Weather FriSatSunMon 25/2025/2125/2125/19 CNN FriSatSunMon 14/817/1518/1614/14 I'm terribly confused. Who am I going to believe? Besides based on my experience, none of these are reliable. 3 weeks ago I went to HongKong and the weather I was expecting, which is hotter, since it is turning to summer, was the other way around. Seems like they have a hangover for Christmas.

Can anyone who's been there or stayed there confirm this? Also, I've done some research on hotels and I saw some really nice looking photos of motels. Anyone can advise if it is really as good? Will the motel be safe and not sleazy? Will appreciate any helpful information. Thanks! Thanks to all for your suggestions. They have all been really helpful. I am going to plan a trip in September or October instead, when the weather is cooler.

All other things being equal would you prefer to live in Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, or Saigon? Dear wisdom of the Internet: I have a potential opportunity for a great job in Asia. We are Europeans currently living in the US. We have one small 3 year old child and another one on the way. The job is great with a generous salary, but I need to choose where to live. Taipei, Kuala Lumpur or Saigon. My criteria include: Overall cost of living Friendliness of the local people Weather (hot is fine, and sunshine is important) Relative hardship Ease/cost of getting domestic help (nanny/maid) Night life Vibrant expat community Quality and cost of top quality apartment rentals Access to the rest of Asia and Europe, good flight links. Local adventure - things to do on the weekends. Sports, sightseeing, activities etc... How well do people in the country speak English (thought we are willing to learn the local language) Thx!

Don't you think Kaohsiung is the best part of Taiwan? It is the people that you may want to visit, and interact with the most when you go to other countries....Although there are many pretty sights in Taiwan, Taiwan is mostly a country of people working long and hard everywhere, with a lot less space and water and air to breath than what we take for granted in the West..... So, to me, the most human place to go where you can see this best is in KAOHSIUNG, a famous old port to the extreme southwest of the island... Kaohsiung has a very long history as a seaport, run first by the Aborigines, then the English, then the Japanese, and is way older than Taipei.... It is also very tropical there, and the people are not as rushed, and the weather is better and the costs are lower than Taipei... They also have a pretty good Zoo, on Ape Hill, or Monkey Mountain, as they call it, which looks a little like Honolulu's Diamond head, if you see it flying in to Kaohsiung. Check out "Takao Club" online and see what I mean. To find open green space in Taiwan you have to travel more than 5 minutes out of a city, try maybe 90 minutes, and then you are probably nearing another city. I am saying Ape hill is right in the city, so no need to go anywhere. Without it, Kaohsiung would really be a hell hole, I agree. Weather- wise winters are far better in Kaohsiung than Taipei... None of that drizzly rain... If Kaohsiung had Taipei's weather it too would be a hell hole Nah, I guess you are right, our zoo is far from world class, but I got a friend working on it and it is slowly coming around... The administrator recently got his arm bit off by a crocodile..., so they are set back many years, and at a very low point right now... My friend's goal is to make Kaohsiung Zoo into more of a zoo specializing in Apes, because they confiscate so many of these kinds of animals at the port coming in from all over Southeast Asia... Pandas and Koalas are expensive to feed and highly inappropriate in such a tropical setting... Anyway, I KNOW it isn't such a great zoo, but what I like is it being small enough to giving small people like me or others the ability to help turn it around
are there any nudist beach in taiwan?? if there is none then are there any nice beaches near taipei?? and how will the weather be like during mid-june there??
I'm wondering why some places have different temperatures..see details? I just checked on the temperature for my city Manila and it's 27-28C..And the forecast doesn't say anything that we have weather systems affecting us..Just clear skies with some clouds. But in Taipei or Hongkong, where they are farther away from the equator it's in 30 and 33.??? I don't get it
where should i go for holidays? I'm from Singapore, and I plan to go on holidays with another friend for 7-10 days between 12 and 24 july. I know it is probably a little late to book now, but I would like to know which options would be better. Free and easy: 1) Hong Kong 2) Taiwan - worried about the weather now 3) Hong Kong + Taipei - the air tickets add up to quite a considerable amount 4) Hong Kong + Shanghai - similarly, the air tickets add up to quite a considerable amount tour package 1) Japan my budget is lesser than SGD2.5K. Or are there any other places within Asia that you guys recommend? (i just went bangkok so that's not an option for me) thank you very much!
flying overseas? I'm going to be flying overseas from LAX (L.A.) to TPE (Taipei, Taiwan) and have never flown overseas before. I will be flying with China Airlines on a Boeing 747 and I am kind of worried. Is it hard to sit still on a plane for 14 hours? I want to sleep on the flight, but I don't think I can sleep sitting down. The flight is also at 11 something at night. Does anyone have any advice, I am pretty worried about the safety, doesn't Taiwan have a lot of bad weather?

Where should I go on vacation? Maldives, Bali, Bora Bora, Cook Islands, etc? Please Help! :)? Here are our must haves: 1) Warm water is a must. Warm like the Caribbean (Aruba, Bonaire), not cooler like Hawaii 2) My husband and I want to go somewhere new. We have been all over the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, and North Asia (Hong Kong, Taipei, Korea) 3) Beach access to good snorkeling and/or scuba diving. Boat diving is fine, but we are not looking for a seven day scuba dive boat trip. We have no children, so no children requirements. We also can go anytime in 2010, so please also suggest a good time when to go (best weather, warm, etc). E.g. I read that Maldives is great in Feb,Mar,Apr. I have been thinking about Maldives, Bali, Bora Bora, or Cook Islands, but everywhere looks soooo beautiful. We (my husband and I) are open to suggestions for somewhere beautiful. Thanks everyone. We are also looking to go for 12-16 days. We also LOVE having the option to visit two places. For example, for our 16 day honeymoon we visited two Caribbean islands, Aruba and Bonaire. I really enjoyed seeing two places (our main objective then was scuba diving, which was excellent in Bonaire). Thanks!

I am proud to invite you to the 1st International Cat symposium. Your friend Chang Chih-Jie December 12, 2008 (2) energy crisis One of the main problems of the world today is the energy crisis. Currently, as the industry and agriculture develop so fast, the consumption of energy such as oil, gases or coals is dramatically increasing. On one hand, energy is important for the economic development. On the other hand, limited and unrecoverable energy such as oil, can not offer us sufficiently. No matter how long could the oil use, we must face the crisis of energy now. We must face it and try to solve it. With the usage of energy, global warming is a serious side effect. Cars, motorcycles and industry machines use oil and coals as the power. At the mean time, they discharge the CO2. When CO2 emission to air, the CO2 will cover over the earth. Because of this, the thermal energy from the sun can not difference and will increase the earth temperature. The disadvantage of global warming include storms, droughts, the dissolve of glacier and the changes of weather in the world. To slow down the usage of energy and decrease the effect of global warming, we should save the energy and decrease the emission of CO2. In aspect of save the energy and decrease the emission of CO2, we can do some changes as fellow in our life. We should use the energy saving electrical equipments such as energy saving bulb and we should turn off the light when we leave the room. We should open the windows instead of the usage of air conditioning. The ways above could help us to save energy. Everyday we could ride a bicycle or take a bus to the office or school and if the distance is not too long, we can ta
