Taiwan

Is it safe for Japanese to travel in Taiwan?

There are some political tensions between Taiwan and Japan, and the media says it's no longer a safe place for the Japanese to travel. Is that true? My sister and I are hoping to visit there for summer holiday.

  1. No, it is quite safe
  2. One of my classmates is Japanese and they've had no problems at all (we study Mandarin together at Chinese Culture University). Despite whatever nonsense goes on between politicians and the media, Taiwan remains a safe place for tourists. You will find the Taiwanese people very warm and welcoming. So I hope you aren't put off by the media, come and have a great time in Taiwan... the only problem you may face is a typhoon; however, this year we've seemed to have had very few!
  3. It is definitely NOT true. Most of the people who are causing a fuss over the recent island issue are fisher man near the island, and politicians. The general public on the main island (Taiwan) are very friendly. PS> summer is not the best time to visit. It's hot and humid (mushi atsui) Better to go around October/November (have fun in Taiwan, enjoy the food)
