What's the point of the People's Republic of China not allowing the Republic of China to be called Taiwan?

Wouldn't ROC changing its name to the Republic of Taiwan actually indicate to the world that the ROC has no claim over mainland China?

  1. As we all know, China is a bully country. And because China does not recognize Taiwan as a country. They consider Taiwan to be part of China. T for Tibet
  2. The PRC likes to believe there's "only one China".
  3. PRC will not allow Taiwan to be free. and not everyone in Taiwan want to rename the place to republic of taiwan... only the natives do.
  4. By continuing to stress that Taiwan is the "Republic of China," the PRC can maintain the fiction that Taiwan is somehow CHINESE TERRITORY. In fact of course, Taiwan is not Chinese territory.
